Last year was the 25th anniversary of our Research Fellowship Scheme founded by Professor Sir Norman Browse and initiated by Professor Sir Peter Morris in 1993. During this time, more than 750 fellowships worth more than £40m have been awarded to RCS members, supported by a wide range of charities, foundations and individuals.

We have now published our 2019-2020 research report, which contains summaries from the 60 trainee members who have been supported by the scheme over the past two years. The research has been far-reaching with projects in every surgical specialty.

Research fellowships are awarded to RCS members who demonstrate that their proposed work is valid, beneficial and original. Find out more about joining the RCS and the research opportunities available.
