New admission to Court of Patrons
16 Dec 2021
In recognition of his continued support for the College, businessman Bjorn Saven was admitted to our Court of Patrons last week. His generous and visionary support over the years has made possible a wealth of research projects and fellowships. These include research in robotic surgery and two joint fellowships with Bowel Cancer UK, undertaken by Joshua Burke and Rachael Clifford, on gastrointestinal surgery and rectal cancer respectively.
In 2020, Bjorn once again demonstrated his understanding and enthusiasm for the work of the College with an extraordinarily generous gift in support of the Professional Surgical Centre, the joint RCS England and LSE Global Surgery Policy Unit and the research fellowship programme.
Bjorn holds a degree from the Stockholm School of Economics and an MBA from Harvard Business School. His contribution to advancing surgical care is matched by his outstanding credentials as a captain of industry and the Founder of IK Investment Partners. Based variously in his native Sweden, the UK and the US, he also served as the deputy Chairman of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in London.
We welcome this friend and passionate philanthropist to our Court of Patrons.
