2023 Council elections open
20 Feb 2023
We are pleased to announce that voting is officially open for the 2023 Council elections. Fellows and members are encouraged to cast their votes based on the candidates’ election statements. There are 24 qualified and driven candidates ready to step into 6 vacancies on the Council.
What is the Council’s role?
Under the College’s Royal Charter, the Council has authority delegated to it from the trustees for all matters relating to professional policy and membership matters. Council meets ten times a year and are involved in the committees and working groups that drive forward our work on strategic priorities and other key areas.
Less than 20% of eligible members voted in last year's Council elections. Our Council is responsible for spearheading positive change in surgery, and it's essential that we can fully recognise the views of our membership. We need your vote to do that.
How to vote
Fellows and members can cast their votes by visiting our 2023 election website where you will also find full election statements from each candidate. Please refer to the security codes that have been provided via email from Civica Election Services on 20 February.
Voting will close at 5pm on Thursday 13 April 2023.
The successful candidates will be announced at the Council meeting on Thursday 20 April 2023 and will commence their terms in July.
