Surgeons welcome confirmation of vascular surgery theatre at Glan Clwyd Hospital
20 Apr 2018
The Welsh government has confirmed £2.3m funding towards the establishment of a new hybrid vascular surgery theatre at Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales. The project is also being supported by a legacy of more than £500,000 from the Livsey Trust.
Mr Tim Havard, Director of the Royal College of Surgeons in Wales, said:
“The Royal College of Surgeons welcomes confirmation of funding for the new hybrid vascular surgery theatre at Glan Clwyd. The new theatre will allow vascular surgery in North Wales to move to a single site, which was recommended by the RCS and the Vascular Society after carrying out a review of vascular surgical services across the region in 2015.
“A single site will help address the sustainability of vascular services and improve patient outcomes. Funding for the theatre will also aid surgical training and potentially deliver sustainable high quality vascular services to the whole of North Wales.”
