RCS 2020 Council elections open
24 Feb 2020
We are pleased to announce that voting is now open for the 2020 Council elections. RCS fellows and members are now encouraged to cast their votes based on the candidates’ election statements. There are 28 candidates standing for nine vacancies on the Council.
What is the RCS Council’s role?
Under the RCS’s Royal Charter, the Council has authority delegated to it from the trustees for all matters relating to professional policy and membership matters. Council meets ten times a year and are involved in the committees and working groups that drive forward our work on strategic priorities and other key work.
Over the past year, Council has discussed major issues such as NHS pressures, working with the independent sector, surgeons as expert witnesses, research sustainability in surgery, College building plans, fundraising and future strategy. Council members have the opportunity to represent the RCS at national and regional events, and are fundamental to the way the RCS works.
This is your chance to decide who represents you. Participate in the 2020 Council elections to have your say on important issues.
