What is the RCS Council's role?
Under the RCS’s Royal Charter, the Council has authority delegated to it from the Trustees for all matters relating to professional policy and membership matters. Council meets six times a year, and Council members are involved in the committees and working groups that drive forward our work on our strategic priorities and other key work, as well as contributing to consultations, publications and standards. Council members have the opportunity to represent the RCS at national and regional events, and are fundamental to the way the RCS works.
The Council consists of 24 elected surgical representatives, chosen by the membership, as well as two elected dental representatives, and ten representatives of each specialty chosen by the ten surgical specialty associations.
