RCS statement following the attacks in Sri Lanka

In light of the devastating attacks that have taken place in Sri Lanka, Professor Derek Alderson, President of the Royal College of Surgeons, has written to Dr Nissanka Jayawardena, President of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka (CSSL), expressing the RCS’s sincerest condolences and offering assistance and support at this most difficult of times.

Professor Alderson said: "Our thoughts are with the citizens of Sri Lanka and all those who have been affected by these senseless attacks. With many of our Sri Lankan colleagues and friends heavily involved in treating the injured and performing lifesaving and life-changing operations at this time, the RCS stands ready to provide whatever assistance and support it can to the CSSL and its members."
