Access to health centres and protecting health workers in Gaza is essential

The Royal College of Surgeons of England is supporting the World Health Organization’s call for the protection of health facilities, health workers, patients and civilians as the conflict in Gaza unfolds.
Mr Tim Mitchell, President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, stated:
“The College has an international and diverse membership, many of whom work in the region and some of whom are delivering life-saving surgery in the most unimaginable circumstances in the Gaza Strip. Access to functioning hospitals is critical, and that means essential medical supplies and humanitarian aid must be allowed into the conflict zone. Health workers, facilities and transport must be protected in accordance with international humanitarian law. The College will do what it can to support its members in the region.”
