From May 2022, the MRCS Part A exam will be in-person with a test centre approach. There will be test centres available to candidates both in the UK and Ireland, and internationally. ICBSE and the four surgical royal colleges will provide further information in early 2022 so that candidates are sufficiently prepared.

Together with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, we are working on a new bi-collegiate project to better support and assist Surgical Care Practitioners in being recognised and granted formal regulation by the General Medical Council.

This week, the review body recommended an award of 3%, which we welcome in view of the pay freezes in other parts of the public sector and the previous announcement. It is not though an overly generous award.
