The RCS has been made aware that some members have been unexpectedly affected by the new loan charge effective 5 April 2019. We are advising members who think they are affected or have received loan charge letters to seek urgent independent tax advice with regard to their position on the loan charge and in contacting HMRC.

This week the JCST announced that the four Surgical Royal Colleges have agreed that there will be no increase in the JCST fee in 2019-2020. We are committed, both individually and through the JCST, to supporting training and are acutely aware of the financial demands placed on trainees.
