Volunteer with the APM

About the Anatomy and Pathology Museum

Located at the College's HQ in Lincoln's Inn fields within the Bjorn Saven skills and learning centre, the Anatomy and Pathology Museum (APM) offers users around 1000 specimens on open display for close study, skeletal handling material and an iPad based resource providing extensive information and self-testing features across the collections.

From supporting medical students and early stage trainees as well as visitors from the wider healthcare professions including paramedics, ODP's, radiologists, Pathologists; the RCSEng Museums' team is keen to encourage a greater number of users across the space.

Volunteering opportunities

To fully operate the APM allowing it to open weekdays 10am-5pm, RCSEng Museums needs the help of expert volunteers from all medical specialisms. As well as onsite opportunities, there are also hybrid/remote options to support the ongoing development of the museum and its resources.

Roles include:

  • Meeting and briefing individual and group visitors
  • Invigilation of the museum space
  • MRCS Pre-examination candidate study support
  • Extended surgical team group visits – support and talks
  • Expert advisor Virtual Learning content development

The public-facing Hunterian Museum opened in 2023, and also offers a variety of volunteering opportunities.
