Response to NHS complaints handling report
28 Oct 2013
Responding to Ann Clwyd MP and Professor Tricia Hart’s report into NHS hospitals' complaints handling. Miss Clare Marx, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and council lead for patient safety, said:
‘Clinicians have a duty to seek feedback from patients and to ensure that complaints are taken seriously. This report serves as a reminder that when patient safety concerns are raised they must be dealt with in a timely and constructive fashion, without cover up.
Providing easier ways for patients to give feedback on their experiences will help them to know that they have been taken seriously. This will strengthen public trust and confidence in the NHS complaints systems and demonstrate the compassion and dignity that patients deserve.’
