24 Nov 2014
On Wednesday, 10 September Miss Clare Marx launched Good Surgical Practice at UHSM, Wythenshawe which provided the opportunity to discuss how Good Surgical Practice can help surgeons to navigate the challenges of the profession today.
Over 50 people attended the President’s talk with a lively discussion session as attendees from Dr Attila Vegh, Chief Executive of the NHS Trust; Dr John Crampton, Medical Director; Mr Jonathan Gosh, Head of the School of Surgery and Chairman Felicity Goodey alongside registrars and surgical trainees took the opportunity to debate how best to address issues facing surgeons and managers today. This included raising topics such as variation in standards across Trusts, tackling the demand on emergency surgery and how best to encourage collaboration between surgeons and their employers.
This was the first visit by Miss Clare Marx since taking up the Presidency in July and is part of a number of planned visits around the UK. This underlines the college’s commitment towards working with the surgical community to maintain standards in care and improve patient outcomes.
