Medical colleges open letter to political parties ahead of Welsh Assembly elections

The Royal College of Surgeons, together with three other medical colleges, has written an open letter to political party leaders in Wales, asking them to explain how they will tackle hospital waiting times ahead of next week's National Assembly elections.

The letter's signatories note that the Welsh health service is treating more paitents than ever before and a recently published National Survey for Wales showed people have a high level of satisfaction with the NHS. However, the issue of of waiting times has not yet been solved.

The medical colleges urge all political parties to commit to tackling waiting lists and improving access to treatment in Wales.

The letter has been signed by the Royal College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Nursing Wales, the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners Wales.
