Comment on sexual harassment in surgery

10 Mar 2015

Speaking on behalf of the Surgical Royal Colleges of the UK and Ireland, Miss Clare Marx, President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, said:

“The Surgical Royal Colleges of the UK and Ireland are united in finding any form of sexual harassment totally unacceptable. No trainee, or indeed any doctor, should feel intimidated and should immediately raise concerns about inappropriate sexual advances by any colleague, senior or junior.

“Our guide, Good Surgical Practice, makes it explicit that surgeons have a duty to promote a positive working environment and treat patients and colleagues fairly and without discrimination.”
