The use of laparoscopic surgery is increasing in practice and this module will increase your knowledge about the subject. It covers applications, equipment, techniques and complications, to provide a base upon which you can build during your specialty training.
The e-learning content in this module also features in our Core Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery course (2nd edition). It is not advised to purchase this module if you intend to book a place on Core Skills in Laparoscopic Surgery as you will not be able to claim PGCert credits for both sets of e-learning.

- Describe the common applications for laparoscopic surgery.
- Set up an operating room including the equipment required for laparoscopic surgery.
- Describe the physiological consequences of laparoscopy for the patient.
- Describe basic techniques in laparoscopy.
- Recognise the complications of laparoscopy.
Format
This is an interactive online module within the innovative RCS e-learning platform. This format means you can study using any device, whenever and wherever it suits you.
This module does not contain any WBAs and therefore the need for an Educational/Clinical Supervisor is not essential, but we would recommend that your progress with the module would benefit from having someone to discuss the content with.
You will have access to this module for 6 months, which you can also extend.
