Specialty Trainee Courses

During your specialty training you will be required to take a number of specialty-specific and some professional development courses. You are entitled to use study leave for these courses. Study leave is leave you can take in addition to your regular annual leave for attending courses and conferences. Your employer may pay for some or all of your course and associated expenses.

The RCS runs courses across all of the surgical specialties and sub-specialties, providing training in innovative techniques and advanced procedures. View our specialty courses.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

There is no formal requirement for CPD during specialty training. However, it is worth finding out what the CPD requirements are for when you take up a non-training post.
