Join the SAS Forum and shape the future for SAS and LED surgeons
Are you ready to play a vital role in representing SAS surgeons and Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs) at a national level? The Royal College of Surgeons of England is recruiting new members for the SAS Forum – a group dedicated to advocating for and advancing the professional development of SAS and LED surgeons across the UK. This is your opportunity to influence policy, promote professional growth, and make a meaningful impact on the surgical community.
Who we're looking for
We are currently recruiting for three positions:
- 1 x SAS surgeon: The ideal candidate is a SAS surgeon who has successfully completed the CESR/Portfolio Pathway (preferred but not required).
- 2 x Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs)
As a member of the SAS Forum, you will:
- Advocate for SAS and LED surgeons by providing insights on workforce, education, and policy matters.
- Represent SAS and LED voices on College committees, working groups, and external bodies.
- Help shape initiatives aligned with the SAS strategy, driving professional development and inclusion.

Key dates to know
- Application deadline: 9am on Friday 24 January 2025.
- Interviews: Held via Microsoft Teams during the week commencing 3 February 2025.
- Appointment: Successful candidates will be invited to attend the SAS Forum Meeting on 18 February 2025 (4–6pm, via Microsoft Teams).

Please ensure you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You are a fellow or member of RCS England.
- You currently hold an SAS or LED role.
- You have experience working with professional or representative organisations.
