Leading Quality Improvement Teams
Supportive leadership is essential for any successful quality improvement activity.
As a leader, you should:
Prioritise the quality improvement projects in your organisation. Keep the number of initiatives being worked on at any one time manageable.
Create a safe space for people to talk freely about the successes and failures of their work.
Support appropriate resources and put time in job plans.
Communicate regularly with the QI project team and support the project to drive it forward.
Unblock barriers for your team that are preventing further improvement.
Help your QI team to celebrate successes and learn lessons from mistakes.
