Event Overview

We have made the difficult decision to postpone day three of the conference, Thursday 27 June, due to the junior doctors' strike in England.

Global Surgical Frontiers (GSF) conference is taking place on 25 and 26 June 2024. This event is suitable for anyone interested in global surgery.

We’re pleased to bring back GSF, the global health conference of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Faculty of Dental Surgery for 2024. It brings together the wider surgical and dental community, policymakers, non-governmental organisations, development agencies, trainees, students and academics to understand the challenges and share evidence-based solutions for improving access to timely, safe and affordable surgical, dental, obstetric, anaesthesia and trauma care in resource-limited settings.

Each day will have a different focus:

Please view the full programmes and full speaker details on the programme tab above.

Tuesday 25 June is centred around Global Oral Health. Chaired by Professor Jenny Gallagher, this is an excellent opportunity for organisations, institutions and healthcare professionals interested and involved in oral health care promotion and management to meet and discuss the latest innovations in oral health. Included in the day will be the Global Oral Health Poster Competition, open to all dental professionals attending the conference. This event is CPD accredited for 5.5 points. Please note this session is running online only

Highlights include:

  • Professor Sunday Ajike; speaking on the challenges of improving oral health in Subsaharan Africa.
  • Professor Peter Anderson: updating on innovations in Oral Health
  • Dr Charlotte Eckhardt: Keynote address from the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery

Wednesday 26 June is focused on Global Surgical Partnerships. There will be sessions on surgical specialty associations, non-governmental organisations, and international surgical organisations. This event is CPD accredited for 5.5 points. This session is hybrid so you have the option of attending in-person or online.

Highlights include:

  • Miss Elizabeth Tissingh: discussing the importance of partnerships in global surgery
  • Dr Fortunate Mudede: speaking on the role of women in surgery in Africa
  • Sessions from leading NGOs

For those attending in person on Wednesday 26 June there will be a networking evening event.
