Event Overview

Join esteemed MRCS Examiners from the College for an evening of drinks, appetizers and insights into the journey of becoming an examiner. Discover why examining is rewarding, how to balance it with professional commitments and the practical steps involved.

The evening will be chaired by consultant urological surgeon, Mr. Tim Lane, who will guide conversations with:

  • Miss Bryony Ellen Lovett, Consultant General Surgeon, will share her motivations for becoming an examiner.
  • Professor Viswanath Mahadevan, will reflect on his years as an examiner and why he continues this important role.
  • Miss Shirley Ying Yee Chan, will offer tips on balancing a busy surgical career with examiner duties.
  • Miss Fiona Myint, FRCS, will discuss how examining can lead to leadership opportunities within the field.
  • Miss Clare Calland, Head of Exams Operations, detailing the application process and practical steps to join the examiner team.

This event is open to surgeons interested in becoming examiners. If you’ve completed the full MRCS examination at least eight years ago and are in a surgical role, join us to learn how you can make an impact as an examiner.
