Collections Highlights, Events & Displays

We regularly feature unusual items in the College Bulletin, showcase interesting collections, and promote our holdings through events and displays.

We have previously exhibited items from the archive collections in the display cases in the Royal College of Surgeons of England Library, and in the display cases on the ground floor. We hope to find a way to continue this during the period of closure.

Highlights from the Collection

In this section you can explore highlights from our collections and browse through the material we’ve showcased recently.

We often feature collections on Twitter @HunterianLondon, where you can keep up with our news, events and displays.

Anatomy as Art

Our Archive collections are rich with artistic illustrations depicting human anatomy.

This  was a facsimile display which showcased just a few excellent examples of these.

Conserve Our Collections

Encapsulating over 200 years of advances in surgery, the archives contain a diverse range of institutional and personal records. The collections include correspondence, lecture notes, photographs, minutes and much more.

Unfortunately some of these papers have either not been cared for in the past, suffered damage or were produced using poor quality materials. Donations help us to conserve and preserve these valuable and unique papers for everyone to see.
